If anyone is still reading this blog…

Konnichiwa! (“Hello!”
in Japanese)
Comment de cava? (“How
are you?” in French)
As I officially move
on to the next phase of my studies after JC, I have decided to write a final
post on this class blog so that I can both officially record down my fond memories
from 2 years back (I have sometimes been forgetting things lately and I hope
that I can still have something to refer back to when I grow old and say, “Hey,
that’s how I was when I was younger”) and to somehow make up for what I had
said in my 2nd informal blog post about 3 years back, promising that
I will be back with a 3rd post… (though I am not really sure if
anyone still visits this blog now but I certainly hope so… Btw, the reason for
the delay in churning out this long-overdue post is because I always felt that
what I had written was not good enough and could have been made better. Those
who have access rights to creating posts on this blog may have seen 2 of my drafts
that were not published. However, I now realise, after looking through my
previous posts, that what matters is actually the sincere reflection of my
thoughts and feelings and not in modifying them continuously in the hope of
coming up with a super-wonderful post – this explains why I am finally able to
publish this one…)
To be frank, 08S05 was
a class which I was most actively involved in. Making a decision to ‘go all out’
led to me achieving various ‘firsts’. I
still remember how I decided to volunteer to be the leader for the Amazing Race
segment for the Boon Lay area out of some courage I managed to muster or perhaps
just some silly bravery… I also went on my first class outing ever and even
dreamt of it before the actual one took place… (In my dream, the setting was an
old shopping centre off the highway and it appeared scary. This, fortunately,
was unlike the one that eventually took place in the real world…) I was also
exposed to Youtube for the first time with the music-playing sessions at the
computer lab and till now, I still go to the site occasionally when I want to
search and play some songs that can hardly be found in CDs of this era now.
(Yup, I am referring to those songs from the 30s to the 80s.) Lastly, but not
the least of all, I started contributing to a public blog for the first time
albeit with limited posts and this activity definitely had influence on my
confidence afterwards.
08S05 was a happy
class, from my point of view. This somehow made attending school a much more
enjoyable experience, with the knowledge that there would always be something
to look forward to during lessons. There were many jokes, often made by the
boys to keep the atmosphere lively and words of concern and encouragement from
the girls to make a depressed person cheer up, not forgetting the gossip
concerning rumours of suspected ‘underground relationships’ (which were of
course in the name of fun). As a matter of fact, I am someone who is actually
an ‘emo’ person but in the environment being filled with positive energy, I was
influenced and therefore usually perceived as a cheerful person.
Thank you to all the
teachers and classmates of 08S05 who had made my time at NJC an enjoyable and
memorable one. I am going to place these fond memories of happiness and unity
in a special corner of my heart and I know that I will come back to revisit
them again every now and then.
